TEACH FRENCH THROUGH FUN. Our camp philosophy is simple. We want our campers to have fun through learning, friendship and adventure. During their time with us, we also want all campers to become more self-assured and self-confident. All of this takes place in a great camp atmosphere with a diverse and unique program. Bonjour NY camp operates on a full French immersion environment.
About Our Staff
Bonjour NY’s staff join us mostly from colleges and universities within the USA and the Francophone world. Having a good match between staff and camp is very important. We look for staff who are fluent in French and have strong skills in a teaching area, plus a GENUINE interest in working with children. We hire staff who come to camp to “give part of themselves” to campers. Our staff also have the necessary levels of maturity, common sense, dependability, trust, and selflessness required in working with children. We have high expectations and requirements for behavior. All program staff are activity instructors or assistants.
Bonjour NY operates a nine-week summer season, as well as a week of pre-camp staff training and orientation in late June. During the “staff week”, we learn Francophone songs, games and set up equipment. intensive briefings also take place on camp operation, policies and camper reviews. it is both a fun and busy week. Bonjour NY also offers additional certification trainings to our team members in May and June: Lifeguarding, CPR… Campers attend camp during the day and go home at night. Bonjour NY sponsors visas for international staff. International staff must make their own housing arrangements.
If you are interested in joining our staff, please fill out the staff application in detail. We will contact you about the availability of a position and arrange a personal interview. We check very carefully the references you provide. We inquire about your ability to relate with children specifically and with all types of people in general. We ask about your work habits, manners, personality, willingness to pitch in and a host of other factors which we think predict success at this setting, although it is not a prerequisite by any means. If you have a genuine interest in working with children, we encourage you to apply. All BNY camp staff members must be fluent in French.
